May the blessing of Allah be upon you,

Greetings of unity and also greeting of One Malaysia.

 

All praises be to Allah and thank to the almighty for bestowing us mercy and love that enable us to live in the most peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. This unprecedented climate is hardly enjoyed and rarely appreciated in other countries especially those having communities consisting of various ethnic groups, race and religions. In fact issues and challenges are availed within such social fabrics.

 

The World interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW) was the idea of His Excellency King Abdullah II that was raised in the 65th Plenary Session at the UN General Assembly , New York on the 23rd September 2010. His proposal was accepted as a resolution that was sanctioned by the UN to encourage especially member nations to celebrate WIHW every first week of February. WIHW is an important agenda for Malaysia and therefore we started celebrating the occasion since 2011. The celebrations will hopefully strengthen the understanding and friendships among Malaysians who subscribe to various religions and beliefs.

 

The harmony and unity portrayed by the people of Malaysia is a manifestation of their openness and acceptance at the various levels of this diverse society. We celebrate diversities within our Malaysian society with respect and love. As the Chairperson of JKMPKA mandated by the Malaysian government to promote the understanding and harmony among the religious adherents, I am hopeful that all citizens of Malaysia are with me in support of this mission.

 

In this context, may I take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all members of the Cabinet Committee in the promotion of Interfaith understanding and Harmony among the religious adherents (JKMPKA), staff of JPNIN, IKIM, JAKIM, related government agencies, religious leaders, houses of worships, NGOs, the Media and all parties who participated in the WIHW 2015 programme. The support and cooperation from all parties is always welcomed and appreciated.
